Privacy and retention

This page describes what the service actually does. Questions: [email protected].

Drawings and results

  • The drawing you upload and the result file are deleted automatically 7 days after the conversion finishes (or fails); the sweep runs hourly. Rebar take-off data is deleted after the period stated on that page.
  • If a conversion fails we keep the drawing for at most 7 days so a technician can check and re-run it, then delete it. Errors you can fix yourself (wrong coordinate system, empty drawing) are also kept 7 days at most.
  • The download link is a long random code and needs no account. Anyone holding it can download for 7 days, so do not post it publicly.
  • The drawing and result of a successful conversion may be opened by the operator for quality checks and support (see "Copy for the operator"); otherwise we do not look at your drawing other than converting it, except to investigate a failed conversion.

Copy for the operator

  • For every successful conversion the service operator receives an e-mail with the file types, size range, run time, the coordinate system used and two links: the drawing you uploaded and the result file. The e-mail contains neither your e-mail address nor your IP address.
  • The operator may open these files to check conversion quality and to support users. The links are operator-only, signed, expire after 7 days and open exactly one file of that one conversion; the drawing and the result are still deleted after 7 days as stated above.

E-mail address (optional)

  • Used only to send the download link. Once the message is sent, the address is removed from the job record.
  • If a conversion fails the address stays with the drawing (7 days at most) so we can write back, and it is included in the internal alert e-mail to our support team (with the file name, options and error).
  • E-mails are sent through a mail delivery provider (Resend). We do not use your address for marketing.

IP address and logs

  • The web server logs only a masked IP address (IPv4 last 8 bits removed, IPv6 first 48 bits kept), no cookies, no URL query strings; the code in download links is masked. This log is kept 90 days at most.
  • The job record does not store the IP address, only a hash that changes every day, used to limit concurrent runs and for statistics. The application log holds only the masked IP and no e-mail; the error text of a failed conversion may mention the file name. Logs are rotated (3 x 10 MB at most) and the system keeps them 14 days at most.
  • We use Cloudflare for delivery and cookieless traffic measurement (Cloudflare Web Analytics). Cloudflare sees the full IP address under its own policy.

Coordinate-system suggestion and map previews

  • When you choose a DWG/DXF file it is read once on the converter to suggest a coordinate system, then deleted at once. The suggestion (a few sample coordinates and a simplified outline of the drawing) is kept at most 1 hour under a random code, without file name, e-mail or IP address.
  • Map previews load tiles from OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org). Your browser fetches them directly, so OpenStreetMap sees your IP address and the area you view; the drawing file is not sent to them.

Preview images

  • When a conversion finishes, the result page (and the e-mail, if you left an address) shows a quick-look image of the drawing you uploaded and of the result. They are made on our server, kept in the same folder as the drawing and deleted with it after 7 days. Images in the e-mail are attached to the e-mail itself and are not loaded from any web page.
  • For KML, KMZ and Shapefile results the result image draws the converted shapes on a base map (road, or satellite when available). Our server (not your browser) fetches a few map tiles of that area from OpenStreetMap or MapTiler; the provider sees our server's address and the tiles of the project area, not your file, file name or e-mail address. Map tiles are cached on the server for 7 days.

Statistics

  • We keep counts of conversions, file type, size, run time and error class, without file names, e-mails or IP addresses.
